DA Foster- the real thing

News You Can Use...

LaHora Del Blues from Spain! July 2, 2015

Impressive southern soul and blues singer D. A. Foster has devoted himself to play these musical styles for quite a long time. Gifted with a deep, strong wild voice, he now gives us a bunch of terrific well sung cuts, performed by a solid group of high level musicians, together with an excellent production by two of the very best actual engineers and producers, Tony Braunagel and Mike Finnigan. Only aged twenty D. A. Foster already was co-owner of the legendary roadhouse Shaboo Inn club in Connecticut, where came to play such legendary bluesmen like Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, T-Bone Walker, Buddy Guy & Junior Wells, James Cotton, Koko Taylor, B. B. King, Freddie King, Albert King Bonnie Raitt and many more. As you may imagine Foster musically grew and learnt with those amazing blues teachers. When all those musicians realized Foster’s vocal skills, encouraged him to form his own band and finally he did it in 1979 with The Shaboo Allstars, that included legendary Matt "Guitar" Murphy, who had just played with The Blues Brothers. For about two years the band toured all over USA and got a big experience. This is a superb, great album, a real source of Afroamerican music that comes to us with the full guarantee to bring us happy and pleasant feelings. GREAT.

Some GREAT Reviews on Amazon.Com! June 10, 2015

Over on our Amazon.com page some of our customers who bought the album also took the time to write glowing reviews. Thanks folks! We sure do appreciate the kind words.

Am so pleased with this album. I love that there is such a variety of songs because some albums can end up being the same song with slight variations, which becomes very boring very quickly. Not only is there a variety of blues, but each song shines on its own and is as good as the next. The variation in the mix keeps me listening. In particular, I love the lyrics, which I would describe as mature/grown-up/realistic, meaning there is no misogyny, the speaker has the maturity to admit that mistakes were made - by both sexes - but despite our flaws, there is still good to be had in the relationships. I would definitely buy this artist, again. I've become a fan!

What a pleasant surprise. Not a "new" artist but unknown to me, I heard one track on Sirius Bluesville and had to check this guy out. A seasoned blend of blues and R&B with excellent contributions from all players and singers. The artist himself has a voice reminiscent of Dr. John or Delbert McClinton, well worn but comfortable, able to deliver the emotion to a song without effort. The songs range from good time rockin' party music to soulful reflections on love sung with the authority and maturity of someone who has lived life fully. Another example of a very talented artist who has survived the often indifferent music "business" and just continues to make good music. I am glad he has.

Work Vessels for Veterans was born in 2008 after John Niekrash, a Noank, CT lobsterman heard the story of a wounded warrior’s unwavering dedication and service after having been severely injured in Iraq. Hearing a call to action, John decided that the boat that had served him well for seventeen years should go to someone who had served his country.

Krasher I was refurbished and donated to USMC Reservist Richard Giguere who served two tours in Iraq and later in Afghanistan. Richard is now working the boat in Narragansett Bay, RI as a commercial fisherman.
